DianCai app for iPhone and iPad

DianCai is a Chinese<->English dictionary for people who just want to look up menu items that are commonly found on a Chinese menu. Enter a menu item in either English, Chinese or pinyin to reveal its Chinese, English and pinyin translation.
The following example search will return
<水煮牛肉,Shui Zhu Niu Rou, Beef in Hot Sauce>

Pinyin and English input can done with the default English keyboard however to use character recognition you must install either the simplified or traditional Chinese keyboard.

From Concept...

While on a train from Chengdu to Beijing I discussed with some friends I met while studying at BNU the concept of a dictionary that is used to look up items commonly found on a Chinese menu.
We all agreed that some electronic dictionaries did not contain items commonly found on a Chinese menu or they did but it was too hard to filter out results not of interest. We wanted a way to easily look up an unrecognized item on a Chinese menu by simply entering the first character and be presented with a list of menu items that start with that character.

The dictionary only contains about 40 entries but will be updated upon the next release. If you are interested in helping me expand the dictionary or have ideas on how to improve this product please do contact me.
